It is MDF from Daisys and Jewels.

It fitted together easily with Daisys MDF Glue. I painted the inside black and used Scrapberry paper on the front and sides. I die cut pieces and mounted drawer pulls on top to label.

This was quick and easy and really useful storage.

My new paperdoll cutouts, embossing folders, stamps AND Distress Oxide Inks!

I used the Oxides to paint the stamps with a waterbrush.

I love my little house, just need to fill it with Tim things!

Fireworks! http://www.scrapintheattic.com/fireworks/ http://www.scrapintheattic.com/fireworks/#comments Thu, 26 Nov 2015 12:43:05 +0000 http://www.scrapintheattic.com/?p=1251 I love fireworks! When I retired all the children at school sang Katy Perrys song “Baby you’re a firework’ in the leaving assembly.
When I saw the challenge at A Vintage Journey with the song title I was so excited. However RL got in the way for a while but eventually I created a small canvas. I am always inspired by Tim Holtz products and techniques and have used them in this project.
image

I began by using TH layering stencils with texture paste to create stars and bursts of light. The foreground was collaged book pages. The blue wasn’t working so out came the black gesso! I highlighted the texture paste with Treasure Gold, sorry I got carried away and forgot to take photos.

image

The layering stencils I used were stars and snowflakes.

image

The foreground was inked with these colours to reflect the glow of the fireworks. The Styled Label was inked and spritzed with the same colours. I wired it around the canvas through eyelets.

image

The Thinlet dies were the perfect shapes for the firework bursts. I used my new Metallic Kraft Core paper in gold.

image

I edged the canvas with Bronze Distress Paint which made the colours pop. The stamps were inked with black archival then clear heat embossed. I cut out and then coloured the children with distress markers. A touch of gold mica flakes across the ground gave an extra sparkle.

image

I enjoyed making the canvas, the song title brings happy memories!

wish me luck in the challenge, check out the inspiration from the Design Team at A Vintage Journey.

hugs

Hi everyone, I have been busy creating a folio of our Road Trip around California, Arizona and Nevada. I made this pocket from Tim’s Jalopy die and used Layering Stencils technique for the background.

I am joining the lovely Linda Ledbetter‘s challenge 31, using the Layering Stencil technique on page 47 of Compendium of Curiosities Vol 3. Sorry you need your own copy to find the instructions!

These are the stencils I used.

These are the paint and DI used.

I was inspired by Anita Houston, on the DT, she has made a great piece using the Jalopy die.

The challenge is sponsored by Inspiration Emporium plus prizes from Tim and Mario! Wish me luck,

Hugs

Ladies Day at Ascot http://www.scrapintheattic.com/ladies-day-at-ascot/ http://www.scrapintheattic.com/ladies-day-at-ascot/#respond Sun, 13 Jul 2014 10:37:02 +0000 http://www.scrapintheattic.com/?p=204 CSI case 130

CSI case 130

I really enjoyed scrapping these photos. I went to Ascot with Marilyn in June. We went on a coach organised from the gym we attend. We had bought an exotic picnic to take with use plus wine. However, we ended up buying jugs of Pimms! We lost some money on bets on each race but had fun choosing our horses. We saw the Royal carriages doing a circuit of the track over the heads of the crowd but saw the Queen, Prince Phillip and Princess Beatrice on the screens. We had a great day out, very English.
I stamped a Paperartsy flag I got in a goody bag and stencilled and sprayed the splatters with D I ink. The letters are die cut and the de bossed words from Tim using core’dinations.

Song Bird http://www.scrapintheattic.com/song-bird/ http://www.scrapintheattic.com/song-bird/#comments Fri, 04 Jul 2014 11:06:35 +0000 http://www.scrapintheattic.com/?p=186 Song Bird

We have a pair of blackbirds nesting in our wisteria and they are fun to watch flying in and out.
I was inspired to have a play at Tim’s distress paint marbling techniques after reading Sandy’s excellent demo on A Vintage Journey blog. I tried them all but sample 4 looked most like the sky effect I was trying to achieve.
Distress Paint Marbling technique
I used it for a background on gessoed, grey board to join in the Challenge 9 at A Vintage Journey, Use Every Stamp in the Set. I used Paperartsy Hotpicks HP1005 because of the bird stamp.
Paperartsy stamps HP1005
I used the plant and swirl stamps around the edges, some in Peeled Paint DI, some embossed with Olive Wow powder and black Archival Ink.The words, take flight, were repeatedly stamped in the same colours from the background, plus black Archival and white embossing powder. The grasses were stamped in Archival Potting Soil but I didn’t like the effect so overstamped in black. The small stamps are in the grasses if you look carefully. I also spritzed distress markers in picket fence and pumice stone to blend the edges.
I clear embossed Secret Garden on some marbled backing paper then inked over to reveal the letters, to give the effect of secret writing.

I have the PA die of the film strip so die cut and stamped the image into kraft card. The blackbird was stamped in Archival over some more of the background paper and then clear heat embossed.I tied brown string to use as a hanger to link to the kraft card.
Overall, I am pleased with the effect and used 9 stamps. Hope you like it too!
