Dragonfly

DragonflyWe visited a National Trust property, Lyvedon New Build in Northamptonshire last Friday. It is such a peaceful place, no sounds of traffic or aircraft, bird song and breeze fills the air. (It did help that it was a hot, sunny day!) The moats were full of different dragonfly darting about, skimming the surface of the water and darting after fish shadows. Their colours were beautiful. I was inspired to make this tag for the Wings and Things challenge on A Vintage Journey Blog.
The colours of Tim’s Distress inks blend together so well to create the watery atmosphere I was trying to create, always an inspiration.
I clear embossed a JOFY bullrush stencil and then inked over a sun circle with Bundled Sage and Stormy Sky. I inked the circle mask with Mustard Seed and Wild Honey. I wanted to make the words look as if they were floating on the water. I inked the stamp with distress markers in various colours before stamping. The dragonfly was stamped on smooth card, painted with distress markers then stickled. I made separate wings from stamped and stickled acetate. I tied a bundle of irridescent ribbon to the tag top. It was mounted on blue corrugated card then stamped kraft card. I am pleased with the effect, I wanted a misty dawn over the water. Hope you like it too x
