Faded layers

A new page for my Tim Holtz Dies Album, page5! I was inspired to try Tim Holtz Faded Layers from CC3 and enter challenge 8, hosted by Linda Ledbetter, check out her blog here. The lovely creations from the crew gave me lots of ideas.
There are some great prizes from Tim and Mario and Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I had tried the technique before but not had much success, I think that more layers of ink was the answer.

Faded LayerI followed the technique in The Compendium of Curiosities 3 using the sun ray stencil and a rainbow of colours. I loved how the gold mixed with green disappears from the rays making it shimmer in other parts.
For my album I used Ornate Frame, Tattered Flower Garland and leaves from Spring Greenery.Flower detail using UYEE

The Ornate Frame was embossed with Tarnished copper.
I made the flowers and leaves from tissue wrap, coloured with Distress Stain and dipped in UTEE. I found this technique on Tammy Tutterow’s Blog.
I stamped my favourite Tim phrase using Archival ink and tied the frame with DP painted sisal.

I finished the page with a metal key and butterfly painted with Distress Paint and sanded.

Metal embellishments
Three more dies used, soooo many more to go!
I hope you enjoyed looking at my creation, I do appreciate any comments.

  2. Jan….this is such a lovely page for your album! The ornate frame beautifully displays your sentiment. The faded layers background you’ve created using the rays stencils and the rainbow of colors is so striking and immediately grabbed my attention. I love the technique you’ve done on the ornate frame. Very cool! I also really like the butterfly and the little tissue flowers that you’ve added as embellishments. Thanks so much for joining us at CC3C. <3 Candy
