Bella Butterfly

Bella Butterfly

Arabella loves her butterfly reins and chooses to wear them all the time. I created a background using stencils and stamps in worn lipstick, peacock feathers and peeled paint distress inks. I added text, spray and tissue tape. The large butterfly was from TH tissue. I added roses which I shaded with Distress ink to match the page, paper lace and buttons. The journalling is in the tiny book I made slipped into an envelope.
It was great fun creating this layout, hope you like it.
I am adding it to CSI case 136 and Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge. The Challenge 14 is Button it up.

Time Flies

Time FliesPhew, a busy week but I had fun making a new album page with the title “Time Flies.” What a great challenge from “A Vintage Journey” I have always been interested in the wealth of vocabulary related to time (second, minute, hour, week, month, year, decade, century, millennium, today, yesterday, past, future etc,etc.). As a teacher of young children, Time is such a difficult concept! Then there are all the sayings, A stitch in time, Time flies, No time like the present…..
So I decided to use my Alphabet dies to include words, my favourites – Word Play and Untieled, plus Once upon a time and Carnivale.

The backgroundFirst I inked an embossing folder with Peacock Feathers, Peeled Paint and Salty Ocean, then embossed white card.

I made a mask from Weathered Clock die and used crackle paste to create texture. I die cut kraft paper with the same die then used distress crackle and walnut stain when it was dry.

To contrast with the die cut letters I used a stamp to emboss a phrase “Remember the now” which I gave wings from Heart Wings die. I stamped with distress embossing ink onto linen effect card die cut with Styled Label. I inked the card to reveal the words.

I feel quite happy I managed to use several different Tim Holtz dies in this fun page with lots of distress and grunge.

I am also entering “A Country View” challenge, Word Play, wish me luck!
Please leave a comment, I appreciate your visit, thanks!

Faded layers

A new page for my Tim Holtz Dies Album, page5! I was inspired to try Tim Holtz Faded Layers from CC3 and enter challenge 8, hosted by Linda Ledbetter, check out her blog here. The lovely creations from the crew gave me lots of ideas.
There are some great prizes from Tim and Mario and Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I had tried the technique before but not had much success, I think that more layers of ink was the answer.

Faded LayerI followed the technique in The Compendium of Curiosities 3 using the sun ray stencil and a rainbow of colours. I loved how the gold mixed with green disappears from the rays making it shimmer in other parts.
For my album I used Ornate Frame, Tattered Flower Garland and leaves from Spring Greenery.Flower detail using UYEE

The Ornate Frame was embossed with Tarnished copper.
I made the flowers and leaves from tissue wrap, coloured with Distress Stain and dipped in UTEE. I found this technique on Tammy Tutterow’s Blog.
I stamped my favourite Tim phrase using Archival ink and tied the frame with DP painted sisal.

I finished the page with a metal key and butterfly painted with Distress Paint and sanded.

Metal embellishments
Three more dies used, soooo many more to go!
I hope you enjoyed looking at my creation, I do appreciate any comments.

My new page

Here is the next page in my journey of discovery, creating an album with my TH dies. I bought the Apothecary Bottle die because I loved it but have not really used until now! The background was inspired by A Vintage Journey Challenge, “Just stain it” to used Distress Stain.

Love the detail

I used Tim’s technique of swooshing paper through DS on my craft sheet. I used only metallic colours, tarnished brass and antique bronze which gave the paper a lovely sheen. Then I inked the blueprint embossing folder with Black Soot and put it through the Bigshot. I wanted an old, faded look with a hint of alchemy. Distress Bottles

The bottles were treated ( or mistreated) with Distress Paint, crackle paint, glossy accents, Distress Stain and Inks. I thought it would be fun to have a bottle knocked over spilling the liquid gold from inside. I used cork as bottle stops, added labels and chitchat stickers. I wound string around one bottle neck to hold the label. I am definitely making more bottles, it is quite addictive!
