Dreamer

I have wanted to make a hanging with this lovely mini Paperartsy stamp. When I was little I wanted to have wings and dreamed about flying. The word dream has such a lovely sound I decided to enter the challenge at A Vintage Journey, Words that are Special.

I began with a selection of fabrics, canvas, muslin, sari silk and Tim Holtz. I dyed different lace in tea and coffee to get a vintage look.

I stamped the image and word using Stazon Ink, make sure there is lots of ink on the stamp!
I machine stitched and padded layers of the fabric with the lace onto a piece of canvas.

I found these beautiful copper earring hooks to dangle the threads of her dreams. I decorated each strip with beads and tokens from my stash.

I was pleased with the result and clipped it onto a TH hanger.
Hope you like it too!

Hugs

  4. Jan, I was so excited to see your beautiful textile art piece was chosen as a Pinworthy at A Vintage Journey! I love the vintage look of the fabrics and laces, and I’m incredibly envious of your sewing skills! Yes, I am on FB, but on an extremely limited basis. I’ve only just started figuring it out, but I think I am a ‘friend’ of yours. I just don’t get notifications on a regular basis. Sending hugs your way–I hope you get a quick resolution to your health issues!
